A Brotha in the Kitchen Presents......Creamy Shrimp Orzo

Argentine red shrimp (my fav) happened to be on sale this week and I happened to have half a bag of orzo in the pantry and a few pieces of green onion and parsley in the fridge.

So, I decided to make a super quick dish that literally took less than 25 minutes!

Creamy Shrimp Orzo

1 lb  peeled and deveined Argentine red shrimp

1 small diced tomato

1 can fire roasted diced tomato

1/2 cup green chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped parsley

2 teaspoons ground green peppercorn

2 teaspoons dry Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon lemon rosemary salt

2 teaspoons seafood rub

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (divided)

1 cup milk

10 oz cooked orzo pasta

 Lets Get Cooking!

  • Boil water and cook orzo for 8 minutes

  • Coat the shrimp in 1/2 the olive oil and toss with the seafood rub

  • Chop tomato, parsley and green onion

  • Add remaining oil to skillet and cook shrimp for 3 minutes per side (Argentine red shrimp cook relatively fast)

  • Add parsley, green onion, tomato, and spices to shrimp

  •  Add milk, bring to a boil for 2 minutes and stir in cooked orzo

  • Remove from skillet, plate and enjoy!
