 Happy (belated) New Year!!

I wanted  to start the year by throwing out a few tips & making sure we are starting 2019 in a financially positive direction.

It's already a few days into the new year, so lets get to it!

* Save more, Spend Less

Sounds simple, but I know this i...

If you know me you know frying chicken has been a thorn in my side for YEARS! It’s either not crispy enough, the batter falls off, it cooks to fast and burns….something!

Well, fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and I stumble across one of those Facebook cooking video...

It’s a celebration!! HHatheart.com turns 1!

Man oh man, although I haven’t written nearly as many articles as I would have liked, or recorded as many podcast episodes I had hoped, I have absolutely enjoyed this journey!

Over the course of the last year, I feel like I lea...

Well, here we are. Another stellar Apple earnings announcement, another boost to our portfolio!

Our portfolio grew from $546,000 in June to $566,978 by then end of July, for an increase of over $20,000 and 4%!

I remember when I decided to buy quite a few  thousand shares...

Wow! Can't believe it's time for a mid-year check already, but here we are!

The market has had some up's and down's this year, but I must say, despite all of that I am pretty pleased at where our portfolio is sitting going into the second half of the year!

Our portfolio...

Since my wife and I decided to try and turn our portfolio into $1 Million Dollars in 5 years, I have struggled with finding a balance between hitting our financial goals and still enjoying some life splurges.

To be honest, I even had moments of guilt and a little embarr...

February has come to a close and WHEW, what a crazy month in the market!

It will go down as the worst month in the market in the last 2 years, but guess what?

Despite all of that we still squeezed 2% out of the month, bringing our portfolio to just over $517,000.

Gotta LO...

Ok so, between work and the holidays, I completely missed the December/End of Year checkup.

I won’t go back and do a full recap, but we ended December at $486,000 and some change, which was about a 1% loss from the previous month.

Now that we have the bad news out...

If you know me you know I really love soup. You may also know I do most of my cooking while Roman is running around the kitchen. So it's always a plus when I can whip something up in 45 minutes or less!

With that being said, this soup really hit the mark! It was simple,...

I've been on a major salad kick lately, and this is definitely one of my faves!

Not only does it taste AMAZING,but  it's insanely simple, 15 minutes max!

'22 to $1 Million

For years, I've always been an avid reader of financial blogs & publications.

And for many years I've always seen stories of couples who saved enough money to retire in their early 50's, 40s' and even their 30's.

As I thought back to those stories, I couldn't recall seeing any feature minority couples.

I've decided to change that narrative & thus " '22 to $1Million" was born.

Simply put,  my wife & I have put together aggressive savings & investment strategy, in hopes that we can work towards and early retirement and achieve a $1 Million portfolio by the end of 2022.

To reach our goal will will make some simple lifestyle changes, along with the following:

  • Increase my 401K contribution from 12% to 21%

  • Contribute 8% to my wifes 401K

  • Invest an additional 12% between our Roth IRA and Personal Investment

  • Achieve a 13% annual return

While hitting and possibly exceeding our goal is the plan, we also hope that we can provide some simple strategies to challenge & motivate you to improve your personal and family's finances as well!

I hope you all join us on our journey as I will document everything for the blog!

Ready? Set. Save!
